The Brazos Firewise Team, a volunteer group created in the spring of 2023 was awarded $2,000 from Fire Adapted New Mexico to develop an educational video on how to help prevent fire from spreading through vacant properties. Lack of property maintenance and years of buildup of dead limb and brush have created a major hazard for adjoining property owners.

Pagosa Creative Company was chosen to produce the video.  Residents will be featured demonstrating the techniques of how to create a fire-safe zone by thinning trees using defensible space standards.   Work on the film will begin in late spring with a public showing scheduled for June 8, 2024.
