Reminder - Burn Ban Remains in Place

Welcome to the Brazos Canyon Fire District

During this Memorial Week/Weekend, we hope you enjoy your time here.

Please be advised that we are currently under fire restrictions imposed by New Mexico, Rio Arriba County, and the Brazos Canyon Fire District. Our area is experiencing a shortage of moisture combined with strong winds which has led to an increased fire danger. Therefore, all open fires are PROHIBITED, including:

NO wood fires, such as those in yard fire pits, holes, or bonfires, barrels, and NO open burning of brush or yard waste.

The following activities are permitted, but we urge you to exercise EXTREME CAUTION and ensure a water source is readily available:

Cooking or heating devices are allowed if they use kerosene, white gas, or propane. Make sure all flammable vegetation and other flammable materials are clear of device within a 30-foot radius and have a water source nearby. Additionally, they must be equipped with an on/off switch or a quick control valve.

If you observe any outdoor fires, please report them immediately by calling 911. To stay informed about fire ban updates, please visit:
